The Sutherland Road scheme is a mixture of affordable housing tenures, communal gardens and includes space for a new GP surgery, which is all tied together with a fun and functional landscape. The pillar-box red profiled cladding give the development a sense of identity and offers an unimposing industrial edge to the design, which is sympathetic to the roofscape of the surrounding buildings. Alexis Kalli, Project Architect at Levitt Bernstein commented: “The snippets of views you get of the courtyard mews houses from passing along the street provide a real focal point of intrigue and pride amongst the residents. The system was easy to install making it a lot easier to get a good finish to the end result. "The project works in terms of breaking up what could be perceived as quite a dense scheme. By varying materials and considering the constraints around the site this has helped to give each block an identity and we think this will engender a community spirit, which would be difficult to achieve with a more homogenised scheme."
